Gill Keogh

Gill began learning Taijiquan in 1977, as a student of Master Lam Kam Chuan.  She first received formal approval in 1985 and became a Taijiquan Instructor.  From then she has been promoting and teaching Taijiquan within a range of agencies in both the statutory and voluntary sectors in England, Ireland both north and south of the border.

Gill welcomes students of all abilities, she will adapt and tailor an appropriate programme to suit individuals and groups whether seeking introductory instruction for interest or a dedicated student.   Groups with ‘special needs’ or specific interest groups are equally encouraged.  Work brings a variety of contexts and client groups from the general community through vocational and formal education, in day, evening and school settings. Health boards also increasingly avail of short term workshops in seminar programmes, care homes, elderly day provision and specific departments such as physiotherapy.

Since 1994 Gill has solely practised Chen Style Taijiquan and became facilitator in Ireland for Grand Master Chen.

Over the years she travelled to China seeking advanced training and specialised tuition from some of the world’s greatest exponents of this art.  More recently, in 2005, Gill availed of an opportunity to train privately in China with Chen Ying Jun for a month.

The following year, Gill was honoured when invited to become an internal student, recognising her contribution to promote and practise Chen Taijiquan in Ireland.  Therefore, in March 2006, she travelled again to China to formerly accept and receive a family Discipleship from Grand Master Chen in a traditional ceremony in the Chenjiagou Village.

Since this, Gill continues to facilitate the Chen family and teaches a number of Taiji and Qi Gong classes, and delivers monthly Chen revision workshops, to follow up the annual seminar visits by Grand Master Chen Xiao Wang and Chen Ying Jun.
