Origin: China, ancient Daoist and martial practices.
Date: Pre-Tang dynasty (7th c. CE and possibly earlier).
Description: A static practice of standing postures to cultivate internal stillness, structural alignment, qi circulation, and whole-body integration. Forms the root of Taijiquan training.
